Who We Are

Our Story

Home of Grace Ministries was founded by Henry and Neri Tran in 2006. But the story of the orphanage began much earlier, in 1980, when the Trans fled Vietnam for the United States as refugees. Henry had served in the South Vietnamese Air Force. Both Henry and Neri believed that war-torn Vietnam had no future for them.

After settling in Oklahoma and raising their six children in the U.S., Neri decided to visit Cambodia. While born in Vietnam, both Henry and Neri can trace their heritage back to Khmer origin. In early 2005, Neri planned her first visit back home since fleeing 25 years ago. Her flight took 22 hours until she arrived and then continued on traveling by bus and ferry until arriving at her destination.
During her time she visited poor villages and busy cities. As a week went by, she noticed a continual stream of children following her and begging her. She eventually could not ignore them any longer and took what she had in money and gave them each a dollar. Later on, after boarding a ferry she began to weep, knowing the kids would continue to starve and beg. She knew that she had to find a more permanent solution for Cambodia’s children. It was from this point that Home of Grace was born.

Neri soon returned to Oklahoma and spread the word that she was planning to build an orphanage. As Henry and Neri prayed, they believed that giving their savings to build an orphanage was simply giving to the Lord. Along with the support of her families, close friends, several churches, and their sacrificial giving, Neri and her husband had soon raised enough money to return a few months later to purchase the land and hired the architect to begin the construction process.

The construction of the orphanage took two years, with the costs increasing due to rising material prices, all during the recession. But God’s continuing faithfulness, the reception in the U.S. was so encouraging that support continued to flow in by compassionate people, allowing Home of Grace to stay under construction. In August 2009, the first floor was finished, and 34 kids moved in. The ribbon-cutting ceremony took place two months later when the entire building in phase one was completed, and the orphanage was officially up and running.

Our Mission Statement

The mission for Home of Grace comes directly from God’s Word.

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

Matthew 28:19-20

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

James 1:27

This command of Christ is the motivation behind the orphanage and the ministry to the surrounding villages and countryside. For us, the nation is Cambodia and the promise of His constant companionship is an ongoing comfort. We are excited at what God has already done and are eagerly anticipating His next directive at Home of Grace.

A Letter From Our Founders

Home of Grace is an orphanage committed to giving hope and a future to Cambodia’s neediest children. Established in 2006, Home of Grace provides Biblical answers to life’s problems and instills Godly principles that change lives forever. Just as Jesus Christ reached out to us, we reach out to them.  The children learn that they are important to God, and to each other, and have been given a unique purpose to fulfill in life (through the Home of Grace orphanage and your support many outreaches are being established). The Lord has also given us the vision to reach the communities for Christ. Our first mission is to demonstrate the love of God to the children, the staff, and the community and give them the opportunity to hear and receive the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our second mission is to provide food and clothing to the orphanage and the poor in the villages around Bati, Cambodia. Our mission is to provide medicine and prayer for the sick.
Churches are being planted, providing ministry in remote areas. The need is great! This ministry is ongoing and expanding in all areas. We humbly ask that you partner with us to reach Cambodia for Christ. At the orphanage many children need sponsors. Your sponsorship allows us to bring more children in.

Currently, we are focusing on discipleship, training, and bringing more children into Home of Grace. We are so grateful that the Lord has been providing for every need as we expand our ministry’s reach throughout Cambodia.

Many villages are waiting for us to reach them! As we each do our part, the Kingdom of God will be advanced and the name of Jesus will be glorified! With all our heart, we thank you for making a difference!

Your co-laborers in Christ,

Henry and Neri Tran
